Anthropic Launches Claude for Small Business

If you run a small business and still stay up late catching up on admin, something changed last week.

On 13/05/2026, Anthropic announced Claude for Small Business, a package of pre-built workflows and connectors that puts Claude to work directly inside the tools most small businesses already pay for. QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, DocuSign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365 are all supported from day one.

It works through Claude Cowork. You toggle the package on, connect the tools you already use, pick a task, and Claude does the work. Before anything sends, posts, or pays, you give final approval. The package ships with 15 ready-to-run workflows covering finance, operations, sales, marketing, HR, and customer service. Among them: payroll planning, month-end close, cash-flow forecasting, invoice chasing, a margin analyser, a contract reviewer, and a campaign builder that takes you from idea to published Canva asset in one flow.

Anthropic's co-founder and President, Daniela Amodei, put it plainly in the launch post: small businesses have never had the same resources as larger companies, and AI is the first technology that can actually close that gap. The aim is to take the late-night work off owners' plates while keeping people firmly in control.

Why this matters for UK businesses Small businesses make up roughly 99% of UK private-sector firms, employ around 16 million people, and generate just over half of all private-sector turnover, according to the Federation of Small Businesses. They also carry a disproportionate administrative load: VAT returns, payroll journals, chasing overdue invoices, managing client communications, and putting together marketing materials. These tasks compound across a working week and, more often than not, fall on the owner.

The practical advantage here is that Claude for Small Business is built around tools many UK small businesses already use. QuickBooks has a large UK user base. HubSpot is widely used by UK service businesses. Canva has become a standard for marketing across sectors, from hospitality to professional services. Because the connectors are pre-built, there is no integration project to manage and no new tool to learn.

The AI Fluency for Small Business course, developed in partnership with PayPal, is free and available on demand now. The live training tour is US-based for the spring, but the online course is open to anyone with an internet connection. On cost: Claude for Small Business adds nothing to your existing bill. It is included within your Claude licence. You only pay for the partner tools you already subscribe to.

The trust model is worth noting too. Existing permissions in your tools carry across into Claude. An employee who cannot see certain payroll data in QuickBooks today cannot see it through Claude either. By default on Team and Enterprise plans, Anthropic does not train on your business data.

This is not a product aimed at Fortune 500 companies. It is aimed at the owner of a 15-person consultancy, a trades business, or a retail operation who is already spending money on these tools and wants them to do more.
