OpenAI just shipped Atlas, a ChatGPT-first browser with agent mode on macOS.
On 21/10/2025, OpenAI launched ChatGPT Atlas worldwide on macOS. Agent mode is in preview for Plus, Pro and Business, with Enterprise and Edu access if enabled by admins. Windows, iOS and Android builds are planned.
For IT, the upside is control. By default Atlas does not use the pages you browse to train models. Optional browser memories can be reviewed, archived or deleted. You can toggle per-site visibility for ChatGPT, use incognito, and carry over parental controls from ChatGPT. OpenAI
The risk is agent autonomy on logged-in sites. OpenAI limits actions, it cannot run code, download files or install extensions, it pauses on sensitive sites, and it supports a logged-out agent mode to reduce exposure. Start with a small macOS pilot, keep memories off by default, allow only required domains, and require users to watch the agent’s actions. OpenAI
